Project Overview

Destination Port: Port of Lagos (Lekki / Tin Can Port), Nigeria
Equipment Type: Heavy Duty Wheel Loader
Shipping Method: Breakbulk Cargo Vessel (散杂货船) / Ro-Ro (滚装船)
Service Scope: Deep Washing, Anti-Corrosion Wax Coating, Under-Deck / Deck Lashing, Customs Clearance, & Ocean Shipping
1. Specialized Pre-Shipment Anti-Corrosion Protection
Shipping oversized equipment on breakbulk vessels requires enhanced protection against long-term ocean salt spray exposure:
Anti-Rust Wax Coating: The entire exterior, including the boom, bucket joints, wheel rims, and engine canopy, was sprayed with heavy-duty marine protective wax.
Sealing Hydraulic Components: All hydraulic cylinders, exposed valve blocks, and air intakes were covered with heavy-duty waterproof foil and multi-layer shrink wrap to prevent salt corrosion during the West African passage.
Glass & Cabin Protection: The operator cabin glass was reinforced with protective boards to guard against physical damage during port crane loading operations.
2. Heavy Breakbulk Deck Loading & Marine Rigging
Safe vessel loading and deck lashing are critical for bulk machinery transit:
Precision Crane Hoisting: Experienced port riggers used certified multi-point lifting slings to ensure smooth hoisting onto the vessel without scratching machine paintwork.
Under-Deck Stowage Priority: Whenever feasible, equipment is stowed in the lower hold (under deck) to completely isolate it from maritime weather.
High-Strength Chain & Cable Lashing: The wheel loader was immobilized on the vessel deck using heavy-duty lashing chains, tensioners, and steel chocks welded to the deck floor to prevent shifting during rough sea states.
3. Arrival at Lagos Port & Client Delivery
The wheel loader arrived at the Port of Lagos, Nigeria, on schedule and passed all customs import inspections with zero rust or mechanical issues. The client praised Hegeer Machinery for top-tier packaging standards and reliable West African shipping capabilities.
