Daily Maintenance Tips for Used Road Roller

Daily Pre‑start Inspection

  1. Check the drum for cracks and deformation. Clean mud and debris from the drum and scrapers to avoid bad compaction results.

  2. Verify fluid levels: engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil and fuel. Check for oil or water leaks.

  3. For pneumatic‑tyre rollers: check tyre pressure and tyre damage. Make sure all bolts are tight.

  4. Test instrument panel, lights, horn, steering and brake before starting.

  5. Inspect hinge pins and shock‑absorbing blocks for cracks or looseness.

During Operation

  1. Avoid continuous full‑load working for newly‑purchased used rollers. Stop for inspection every 2‑3 hours.

  2. Stop working immediately if you hear strange noise, vibration or high‑temperature alarm. Never operate with faults.

Post‑shift Daily Care

  1. Wash mud off machine and radiator fins. Clogged radiator will cause engine overheating.

  2. Check oil pipe joints and cylinders for leakage. Clean dust from air filter housing.

  3. Park on firm flat ground. Do not park on soft soil or slopes.

  4. In cold weather: drain cooling water for anti‑freezing. Disconnect main power switch.

Periodic Service Schedule

  • Every 50 hours: Grease hinge points and bearings; retighten key bolts for drum and frame.

  • Every 250 hours: Replace engine oil & oil filter; inspect air filter and fan belt.

  • Every 500 hours: Replace fuel filter; inspect hydraulic oil quality, change hydraulic oil & filter if dark or contaminated. Check wear of hydraulic hoses and vibration motor.

  • Every 1000 hours: Full hydraulic system inspection; check vibration mechanism, shock absorbers, brake and clutch wear.

Special Reminders for Used Road Rollers

  1. After purchasing a second‑hand roller, replace all oils and filters at one time instead of using old fluid left by previous owner.

  2. Pay extra attention to vibration system. Vibration bearings are high‑wear parts on used machines.

  3. Do not over‑load or over‑amplitude operation, which may lead to drum crack or frame distortion.

  4. For long‑term storage: drain all water, apply anti‑rust treatment, prop up drum, disconnect battery negative terminal.
